What Gay Hockey Means to Me

My biggest worry about joining the league was that I would get discouraged or receive harsh feedback about being bad at the game. But I was surprised at how much the opposite my experience was. Everyone was so encouraging and supportive of each other; I could miss passes, fall, skate slowly, and I was always encouraged to keep going with enthusiastic cheers from my teammates.
I cannot think of any other place where taking a risk of learning something so challenging and new could be done in such a safe space.
